ALL THE WEEK'S HORROR HEADLINES (7th–14th September)

Not got time to trawl the web for all the top horror news of the last week? Well allow me to give you a bite-size breakdown of the all biggest nightmarish news!

1. IFC MIDNIGHT CONTRACTS CABIN FEVER

IFC Midnight has acquired the rights for the very highly regarded remake of Eli Roth's Cabin Fever. Expect the latest outbreak of the deadly flesh-eating virus next year.
Is it really necessary to remake a film that is just 13 years old and pretty much wrung everything it could from it's not particularly great premise first go round? I'm not convinced, but let's wait and see, shall we?

2. ASH VS THE EVIL DEAD: SPOILERS!

Titles and synopses have been released for nine of the 10 episodes of Ash vs The Evil Dead.
Read on at your own risk…
Ep 101 – El Jefe
Ash is baaack! 30 years after his last Deadite fight, badass blowhard Ash Williams unleashes the Evil in an act of stoned stupidity, bringing Deadite mayhem into his life again.

Ep 102 – Bait
Special Agent Fisher is tracking Ash. Pablo gets his first taste of blood in a manic battle, and a revelation changes Kelly’s life forever.

Ep 103 – Books From Beyond
A mysterious woman finds the destruction at Kelly’s parents’ farm. Meanwhile, Ash, Pablo and Kelly reach Books from Beyond with the Necronomicon and Fisher finds herself in another terrifying, inexplicable situation.
Ep 104 – Brujo
Ruby helps Fisher and reveals her family’s connection to the Evil Dead. Ash and team follow a clue from the demon Eligos, but Kelly pays a price.
Ep 105 – The Host
Kelly’s current state puts others in jeopardy. This forces Pablo to make a brave move and Ash to reveal a new side to his character. Ruby and Fisher join forces in pursuit of Ash.
Ep 106 – The Killer of Killers
Thanks to his drug-induced vision, Ash knows what to do with the Necronomicon. Pablo and Kelly notice something ominous. Ash promises to visit Lem, but Fisher shows up for an almighty showdown with her former boss.
Ep 107 – Fire In The Hole
Ash, Pablo and Kelly, now joined by Fisher, arrive at the survivalist camp in the midst of chaos and must go to extreme measures to escape. Meanwhile, more is revealed of Ruby’s mission.
Ep 108 – Ashes To Ashes
Ash attempts to bury the book to end the Evil, but first he must contend with other, more physical things from his past. Fisher faces a horrific change in Ash.
Ep 109 – Bound In The Flesh
Ash battles someone all too familiar, and later hears a message from the Necronomicon. Meanwhile, the deadliest Deadite attacks.

I CANNOT WAIT.

3. JEEPERS CREEPERS 3 IS GO

Bloody Disgusting has learned that the long-awaited Jeepers Creepers 3  will finally be moving ahead next year, with the following synopsis:
'Jeepers Creepers 3 will show events on the last day of the Creeper’s twenty-three day feeding frenzy, as the skeptical Sergent Tubbs teams up with a task force hellbent on destroying the Creeper for good. The Creeper fights back in gory glory as its enemies grow closer than ever before to learning the secret of its dark origins.”
Controversial director Victor Salva will return and has said: “Writing and directing a new Jeepers film, the first in over a decade, is incredibly exciting. For me and I believe for Jeepers fans all over the world that have been asking for more.
'What will go before cameras as Jeepers Creepers 3 is a new and terrifying chapter from the Jeepers universe. We are bringing back the Creeper’s truck, and will be addressing the big questions about The Creeper: what it is, where it came from and why it does what it does
'More exciting though, this will easily be the most frightening rollercoaster -ride -of- a-Jeepers film that has been made to date.'
I'm in two minds over JC3 as I love the first film, thought the second was a disappointment and upon learning about Salva's past feel uncomfortable supporting him from now on. What say you?

4. MICHAEL DOUGHERTY'S KRAMPUS TRAILER IS HERE!

I loved Trick 'r Treat and now the brains behind the film is bringing us a Christmas horror flick.
AWESOME.
5. SUSPIRIA REMAKE DIRECTOR AND CAST RUMOUR

The Suspiria remake seems to have found a director, Luca Guadagnino, and rumours suggest he's keen to bring the leads of his last film A Bigger Splash (which went down very well at the Venice Film Festival) to the production.
That means Dakota Johnson, Matthias Schoenaerts, Ralph Fiennes and Tilda Swinton are all tipped to appear.
That's an impressive cast to be sure, but if I'm not sure there's much point in remaking Cabin Fever I'm absolutely certain there's no need to remake a film as iconic as Dario Argento's 1977 classic. I hope I'm wrong. I REALLY hope I'm wrong.
6. NEW RELEASES

First, up we have The Treatment, a crime thriller based on the best selling novel by Mo Hayder.
Buy it at Amazon here.

Also out this week is the impressive psychological chiller, The Canal from director Ivan Kavanagh.

The fun-looking The Haunting of Borden House goes on sale this week too.
Buy it at Amazon here.

And finally, this week sees the release of Army of Frankensteins which, well, here's the product description: 'Alan Jones is beaten to within an inch of his life by a group of thugs who take him to a mysterious lab where a doctor and his genius assistant experiment on him hoping to create their own Frankenstein s monster. The experiments lead to a void being ripped in space and time, resulting in an army of Frankenstein s from parallel universes being sent back to the 19th century, directly into the heart of a bloody war.'
